ABDUL Azeez Abdul Rahim said some RM500,000 in foreign currencies in his house that was seized by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officials belonged to welfare organisation Kelab Putera 1Malaysia.
The Tabung Haji chairman said the anti-graft agency also confiscated his wife’s jewellery and some timepieces.
“The mixed currencies were money belonging to Kelab Putera 1Malaysia and were from the 40 countries to which we had given aid in the past.
“As for the timepieces, these are all mainly Chinese replica copies of the original and do not carry any certification,” he was quoted as saying in new reports today.
The Umno Supreme Council member said MACC officers also visited his office in Baling, Kedah.
He said RM100,000 was seized from his house in Baling and RM400,000 from his house in Subang.
Azeez said he did not know what MACC was investigating him for but he would cooperate.
