PRIME Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the government will not increase the retail price of fuel despite the increase in crude oil prices.
Bernama reported him as saying Pakatan Harapan, in its manifesto, has promised to stabilise fuel prices and reintroduce fuel subsidies for targeted groups.
“Our policy is to not have weekly changes in the price according to the market,” he said during a press conference after chairing the first PH cabinet meeting in Putrajaya today.
The report said global crude oil prices are currently above US$70 (RM280) per barrel.
Following Dr Mahathir’s statement, the price of RON95 petrol remains unchanged at RM2.20 per litre, RON97 (RM2.47) and diesel (RM2.18). – May 23, 2018.
