NAJIB Razak has left the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters after being questioned for more than four hours today.
The former prime minster had been summoned to give his statement in connection with the case involving SRC International, a subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
Najib arrived at the MACC headquarters at 9.41am in a Toyota Vellfire, with two police outriders and three other vehicles. He left the premises at 3.15pm.
The former Umno president told reporters that he will be back on Thursday for further questioning, and he thanked MACC investigators for their professionalism.
He said his statement given today is a continuation of the statement he had given in 2015.
“The statement today is more detailed, with supporting documents.”
He said the questioning started at 10am and ended at 2.15pm, with a 30-minute break in between.
“The most part (of the questioning) has been completed, and it will resume on Thursday.”
Earlier, MACC chief Mohd Shukri Abdull said Najib will not be arrested today, and that his questioning came after the agency found new evidence in the case.
Present at the MACC headquarters were former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail and federal commercial crime director Amar Singh Ishar Singh.
Over the past week, police have conducted numerous raids on properties linked to Najib.
They have seized millions of ringgit in cash, designer bags, jewellery and other valuables. – May 22, 2018.
