FORMER prime minister Najib Razak will not be arrested today, said Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Mohd Shukri Abdull.
“No, he won’t be arrested today.
“We have received new evidence and we want to question him about it,” said Shukri.
He said Najib is currently being investigated for alleged corruption related to SRC International.
Shukri in a press conference held at the MACC headquarters today said he and his former boss Abu Kassim Mohamed had tried their very best to recover the stolen money.
They even tried to explain to all the ministers about the RM2.6 billion in the then prime minister’s bank account and the RM42 million absconded from SRC International.
“We never lost hope. We were doing our best. The RM2.6 billion and the RM42 million are real cases. We said throw out Najib and replace him with Ahmad Zahid (Hamidi) or Hishammuddin (Hussein) but of all the ministers, only three listened to us,” he said.
The three were then deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, former rural and regional development minister Shafie Afdal dan former deputy finance minister Husni Hanadzlah.
“But after what happened, only now they regret and say if only they had listened to me.” – May 22, 2018.
