THE Anti-Fake News Act will be abolished, newly sworn in Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo said today.

Gobind said Pakatan Harapan (PH) will abide by its manifesto, which promised to abolish the law, and a proposal to do so will be brought to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad soon.

“We have an Anti-Fake News Act, and as mentioned in the PH manifesto, we will repeal it.

“We will set a time frame. We have to deliver within the first 100 days (in power), but how much time is required I will discuss with my officials tomorrow. I will do it when I start work tomorrow at 8.30am sharp,” he told reporters after taking his oath of office.

Gobind, along with 12 others, were sworn in as ministers before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V at Istana Negara today. – May 21, 2018.
