POLICE are still counting the money in 72 bags seized from the Pavilion condominium units linked to former prime minister Najib Razak.
Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Amar Singh confirmed to the New Straits Times that they had started counting the money but refused to elaborate to avoid speculation.
The English daily reported that police were still counting the money as at 3.30pm today and the process will take time as they have to record the serial number of each note.
The cash seized last Friday also included different currencies, adding more tedium to the process.
The money will be taken to the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman before it is handed over to Bank Negara Malaysia β where the central bank will tabulate the seized currencies again.
It was also learnt that Bank Islam had been engaged to evaluate the jewellery and gold bars which were seized along with the cash. β May 21, 2018.
