MOHAMED Elias Abu Bakar has been appointed as Election Commission secretary, effective today.
The EC, in a statement, said Elias, 58, replaces Abdul Ghani Salleh, who went on mandatory retirement on May 10.
“The EC hopes that Elias’ wide experience in the civil service will enable him to lead the EC secretariat in planning, coordinating and implementing the EC’s policies efficiently and effectively.β
Elias joined the civil service on July 1, 1983, and most recently served as deputy secretary-general (operations) of the Human Resource Ministry, from February 15 last year till yesterday.
He was previously director of the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry’s human resource, consumerism and management division, and director of the business development division from March 24, 2008, to April 27, 2014. β May 21, 2018.
