MEDIA Prima Bhd’s group chairman Ismee Ismail has resigned, the company announced today.
The company said in a statement that senior independent non-executive director Mohd Nasir Ahmad has been appointed interim chairman in the meantime.
“In accepting Ismee’s request for resignation, the board expressed its deepest appreciation and gratitude for his leadership and contributions to Media Prima since he joined on June 1, 2017.
“He also served as chairman of the group’s risk management committee,” the statement read.
The company’s shares had fallen sharply since Barisan Nasional’s shock defeat at the 14th general election, and its group managing editor of news and current affairs Mohd Ashraf Abdullah had also recently ended his tenure.
GE14’s results had prompted restructuring exercises in several BN-linked media outlets, including in Media Prima.
Last week, four independent non-executive directors in Utusan Melayu (Malaysia) Bhd, including the former press secretary to former prime minister Najib Razak, Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad, had resigned. – May 21, 2018.
