MEMBERS of the special 1Malaysia Development Bhd investigative team arrived at Ilham Tower this afternoon, where the Council of Eminent Persons has been holding meetings.

Former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail, former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Abu Kassim Mohamed and newly appointed MACC head Mohd Shukri Abdull were seen at the entrance.

None stopped to speak to the media upon their arrival.

Also seen was former attorney-general Abu Talib Othman, who entered the building about 2.15pm.

The Prime Minister’s Office earlier today announced the formation of the 1MDB task force.

The team, comprising the MACC, Attorney-General’s Chambers, police, Bank Negara and lawyers, has been given the mandate to investigate the misappropriation of 1MDB funds and cooperate with enforcement agencies abroad.

Gani, Abu Kassim and Shukri left the building together at 3.30pm.

Gani said he will speak to the press tomorrow. The other two declined to comment. – May 21, 2018.
