POLICE finally opened eight safes at the prime minister’s official residence in Seri Perdana, Putrajaya, at 3am yesterday, the New Straits Times reports.
There was no money in the safes, which belonged to former prime minister Najib Razak, who is under investigation for money-laundering, according to NST.
Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigations Department director Amar Singh told the paper that the safes were opened with the help of locksmiths in a process that took nearly 2½ hours.
Besides Seri Perdana, police have also searched Najib’s former offices at the Prime Minister’s Office, his private residence in Taman Duta and condominiums occupied by his children at Pavilion Residences in Kuala Lumpur. – May 21, 2018.
