ROSMAH Mansor bears no grudges against former allies who turned on her and Najib Razak following Barisan Nasional’s general election defeat.
“It’s normal in politics. When you’re up, everybody adores us, but when you have problem, it is expected. It is just part and parcel of life,” she said.
“I don’t mind. It’s OK. Everybody has got their right about what they want to say,” she was quoted as saying in an exclusive interview with Malay Mail.
The former prime minister’s wife said she was now focused on protecting her family and appeared upbeat despite a series of raids at her Jalan Langgak Duta home.
“We are taking it quite well. I think we’re quite relaxed, being a family of politicians. This is just one of those trials and tribulations, hazards of being in politics,” Rosmah told Malay Mail.
Rosmah said she asked police to treat her and her family with the courtesy to which they were entitled as Malaysians.
“I can take all that pre-dawn raids. I understand.
“I believe that a person is innocent until proven guilty. Otherwise, we have to be treated like normal human beings. The right to dignity.”
Police raided six premises linked to Najib between Wednesday and Thursday. The raids are in connection to investigations into the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal, from which Najib is accused of stealing billions of ringgit.
Rosmah, through her lawyers, said yesterday photographs of the raid at their private residence had been leaked to feed “social media trolls” and to fuel to public anger against her and her husband.
Early Thursday, police left Pavilion Residences where Rosmah and Najib had condominiums with 284 boxes containing designer handbags and 72 suitcases filled with cash, jewellery and watches. – May 20, 2018.
