NAJIB Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, arrived in Pekan and were greeted by a crowd who had gathered there since 8am.
It is the couple’s first visit to Pekan since Barisan Nasional’s GE14 defeat on May 9.
“The people want me to come back.
“They want to show their appreciation, and continue to support me for all the things I have done. They want me to continue to serve them as an MP. So I’m glad to be back,” Najib told reporters gathered there.
He declined further questions before going into his Seri Kenangan residence.
Najib, who has been the MP for Pekan since 1976, was dressed in a dark blue shirt, while Rosmah was dressed in a flowery yellow baju kurung and scarf.
The couple was in good spirits. Rosmah, who has not been seen in public since BN’s defeat, hugged some of the women present before walking into the house.
Najib is currently being investigated under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001.
He has also been blacklisted by the Immigration Department and barred from leaving the country.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has summoned Najib to its headquarters next Tuesday for questioning over the SRC International Sdn Bhd case.
This follows police raids on several properties connected to Najib, including condominium units in Pavilion Residences. – May 20, 2018.
