AHMAD Zahid Hamidi has urged Umno members to deal with the party’s reality and unite to face coming challenges.
The acting Umno president said Umno must reorganise and improve to ensure its survival after its thumping defeat at the 14th general election.
“The party’s survival now lies in the strong support of its members.
“At this point, the future and survival of our race are at a critical state. Thus, Umno must be restructured to ensure its relevancy as a political organisation that can safeguard Malays and Malaysians as a whole,” he told Umno-Online.
On May 12, Najib stepped down as Umno president and Barisan Nasional chairman following the coalition’s defeat in GE14.
He also told Umno members at all levels to introspect.
“We must think and conduct self-evaluation to find out our weaknesses.
“We must eliminate political liability and face this. I believe that everything happens for a reason, for us to be better and rise again.”
He also Umno must be a constructive opposition at the state and federal levels. – May 20, 2018.
