Sabah, Sarawak reps in cabinet yet unnamed due to talks with Warisan, says Baru Bian

TALKS with Parti Warisan Sabah are what’s holding up Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad from naming the Sarawak and Sabah representatives in the federal cabinet.

State PKR chairman Baru Bian, however, would not reveal what was being discussed.

“I want to believe our leaders in PH have the wisdom to remember us in Sabah and Sarawak,” he said in reply to questions on the absence of representatives from East Malaysia in the cabinet line-up announced yesterday by Dr Mahathir.

“We’re not giving up hope. The manifesto is clear (on Sabah and Sarawak’s position in the federation),” he said in a media conference post state leadership council meeting, in Kuching, today.

“They will make a decision commensurate with the manifesto.

“Sabah and Sarawak should not be left out. We are equal partners in the federation.”

DAP had today said it was premature to claim Sabah and Sarawak had been overlooked by Dr Mahathir as half of the ministerial posts, including key ones such as Works and Foreign Affairs, were yet to be filled. – May 19, 2018.
