TOP criminal lawyer M. Puravalen has confirmed he has been retained by Rosmah Mansor for his legal services.
He said he would only be acting for her and not former prime minister Najib Razak, after giving a statement to the media on her behalf today.
When contacted, Puravalen said there were no further instructions from his client.
Puravalen was Abdul Razak Baginda’s first lawyer in the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case in 2006.
Razak was charged with abetting the murder of the Mongolian interpreter and was subsequently acquitted when the high court found no prima facie case against him.
Earlier today, Rosmah criticised a “series of leaks” that had become social media fodder, which included details of the items confiscated by police investigations into Najib.
Rosmah said her family was the victim of a “targeted vilification” designed to provoke public anger, and called on enforcement agencies not to feed “social media trolls”.
Her statement was issued through Puravalen’s firm, Valen, Oh, and Partners.
Police have thus far seized at least 284 boxes of handbags, 72 bags of cash in various denominations, watches, and jewellery, from Najib’s residences and offices, according to reports.
Another report today said documents related to 1Malaysia Development Bhd, including a letter dated July 27, 2015 to then attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail, have also been found in a locked safe at Najib’s former office in the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya. – May 19, 2018.
