THE names of Sungai Tua assemblyman Amirudin Shari and Seri Setia representative Shaharuddin Badaruddin have been forwarded to the palace as possible replacements for Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali, who is set to move to the federal government, said a source today.
The source said Azmin forwarded the names to the Selangor sultan this morning.
Azmin, who took his oath of office as Selangor menteri besar last Tuesday, is set to meet Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad over his appointment as minister of economic affairs later today at the Perdana Leadership Foundation.
Shaharuddin is currently the exco in charge of Islamic affairs, education, human capital development, science, technology, and innovation.
The PKR vice-president was a Universiti Selangor vice-chancellor and Institute Darul Ehsan board member.
Amirudin is a close ally of Azmin and has been with PKR since its formation in 1998.
Amirudin is currently the exco member in charge of youth and sports empowerment, entrepreneurship, rural and traditional villages development.
A decision on the appointment is expected by Monday, at the earliest. – May 19, 2018.
