A GROUP of tahfiz pupils from Pusat Tahfiz Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah, which caught fire last September, joined Najib Razak and his family for breaking of fast and tarawih prayers.
Principal Mohammad Zahid Mahmood and 40 pupils were spotted leaving the former prime minister’s private residence at Jalan Langgak Duta, Taman Duta, about 11pm.
Zahid would only comment that the household was calm.
“We did tarawih prayers. Everything was fine,” he said while leaving the premises.
When asked about Najib’s wife Rosmah Mansor, he did not say whether he saw her or not.
“Everything was okay. It was calm. Alhamdulillah.”
The tahfiz school on Jalan Datuk Keramat, Kuala Lumpur, caught fire last September, killing 21 pupils and two wardens.
The fire started at the main entrance to the dormitory at the third level of the building. Investigators also detected traces of petrol on the wall, towel and shoe rack and cupboard near the entrance.
Seven youths, between the ages of 11 and 18, were arrested over the incident.
Two of the teens were later charged with murder. – May 18, 2018.
