THE total value of items seized in a raid on a condominium unit at the Pavilion Residences in Kuala Lumpur this morning cannot yet be determined, said police.
“I think it is premature… Too early to confirm or deny what the seized items are,” federal Commercial Crimes Investigation Department director Amar Singh Ishar Singh was reported as saying by Malaysiakini.
“It is not proper for me to say. The reason being, we have yet to tabulate (the items).”
The Sin Chew Daily reported that police seized more than 100kg of gold bars, and cash exceeding RM100 million.
It took five lorries to haul away the seized items, said to include 284 designer handbags, and 72 bags containing cash and jewellery.
Scores of journalists have been camping outside former prime minister Najib Razak’s home in Taman Duta since Wednesday night, when police started raiding the premises.
Searches were also carried out at two other units at the Pavilion Residences, Najib’s former office in Putrajaya, and Seri Perdana, which is the prime minister’s official residence.
Police are currently working to drill open a 20-year-old safe in Najib’s house.
The raids on all the premises, linked to Najib, are part of investigations into 1Malaysia Development Bhd. – May 18, 2018.
