Najib calm despite raids

FORMER prime minister Najib Razak is calm despite the ongoing search at his home in Jalan Langgak Duta, said Nazilah Idris, chairman of Gabungan Gerakan NGO Selangor.

She arrived at Najib’s home with two others about 11am and stayed for about an hour.

Police raided six premises linked to Najib as part of investigations into the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal. They arrived at the Jalan Langgak Duta house on Wednesday and are still there trying to open a safe.

“The environment in the house is calm and I am touched that Datuk Seri Najib is treating the situation nicely.

“A guilty person would not have been able to be that calm in this kind of situation,” Nazilah said.

When asked about the state of Najib’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, as well as their children, she said they were in the house but did not meet any of them.

She also said Najib and his family should not be treated like a common criminal way and urged the government to be fair.

When asked to comment on the boxes that were carted away from the house and about 350 designer handbags seized from a condominium linked to the former prime minister, Nazilah said there should be no speculations as Najib is a wealthy person.

“There should be no speculations because those items are not related to 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Berhad),” she added.

Last night, police seized about 284 handbags and luggage bags after searching for almost 30 hours at a condominium unit in Pavilion Residences. The items filled five lorries. – May 18, 2018.
