WITH Anwar Ibrahim around, there may be little danger of Pakatan Harapan leaders strutting around and believing that they were responsible for the biggest electoral shock in history.
The media have been writing about the charisma of PH leaders on the campaign trail and some pundits have even attributed the defeat of Najib Razak and Barisan Nasional politicians to the superior cast they faced on May 9.
Anwar said PH won because people have had enough with the excesses of the Barisan Nasional government. He wanted this message to sink in.
Malaysian voted out BN because they wanted change. PH represented change.
Anwar was given a full royal pardon and released from jail on Wednesday for sodomy. Because of the jail sentence, he had to leave the campaigning to other PH leaders, such as Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Mohamad Sabu and Lim Kit Siang.
Anwar said Malaysians, especially the younger generation, were well versed with the political landscape.
He predicted a future where there will be Malaysians who look past race, ideologies and vote for what they believe to best option at a particular time.
“There will be a new breed of Malaysians who think Malaysian. What is paramount are the institutions of governance and principle of justice for all,” Anwar said.
