PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim is included among the “top six” leaders in Pakatan Harapan (PH), said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The PH chairman said the top leadership had consisted of five people but it’s six now because Anwar was released from prison yesterday.
“Anwar will be one of the top six (in PH),” he said at the Bersatu office in Petaling Jaya.
The top leaders are Dr Mahathir, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Anwar as the latest addition.
Anwar was jailed in 2015 after he was convicted of sodomizing his former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
His family and supporters regarded his imprisonment as unfair and politically motivated.
Dr Mahathir has fulfilled his pledge to release Anwar after PH defeated Barisan Nasional in the 14th general election. – May 17, 2018.
