SABAH Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal has defended his decision to hold the finance portfolio in his cabinet, saying it is necessary to put the state’s finances back on track.
He said this will also allow Parti Warisan Sabah to fulfil its election promises.
“It’s different if there are other concerns in one’s mind. If one does not have other interests, then why must it be questioned?” he said during a press conference at his home today, following the state cabinet’s swearing-in.
“I want to ensure that financial matters are brought back on track, and that the economy can be managed.
“We hope we can carry out all our promises.”
Shafie’s move to hold the finance portfolio has raised criticism, as it goes against the stand of the Pakatan Harapan federal government. – May 16, 2018.
