THE Registrar of Societies (RoS), which had earlier refused to register Pakatan Harapan, citing various reasons, today approved the coalition’s registration, said a PH source.

The source said the pact’s registration was supposed to be announced tomorrow, but it is now public knowledge after a photograph of the certificate of registration was spread via WhatsApp.

“We were supposed to make the announcement tomorrow, but the (photo of the) certificate has gone viral.”

In February, RoS had said it was unable to process PH’s registration as Bersatu had yet to submit all the documents required by the agency, as stated in its notice issued under Section 14(2) of the Societies Act 1966.

However, Bersatu said it had furnished RoS with the documents before the deadline set by the agency. The party insisted that the deadline was April 9, which was when it received the notice, and not March 29.

RoS had sent Bersatu a notice dated February 28, requesting that the party submit the minutes of its meetings and financial documents within 30 days, or face deregistration. – May 16, 2018.
