KEPONG MP Lim Lip Eng has lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission against former Federal Territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor over the sale of 64 plots of land to the Federal Territories Foundation since 2013.
In his report, Lim said Tengku Adnan, who is also the foundation’s head, must be investigated immediately as there was a conflict of interest in the transaction.
“I told MACC that the first individual they should investigate is Tengku Adnan, because he was the one who approved the selling of the land.
“He was also involved with the foundation. Basically, (there was) a conflict (of interest),” he was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times.
“Maybe (former) Federal Territories deputy minister Dr Loga Bala Mohan and the mayor (should) be investigated (too), as they are part of the foundation.”
Lim said the 64 plots of land were meant for the construction of affordable homes.
However, upon investigation, only some had been used for the purpose.
Lim said the 64 plots, measuring a total of 171.7ha and worth RM4.28 billion, were sold without going through the open tender process.
He said development projects approved in the Federal Territories will proceed as usual, while those still in the planning stage will be temporarily halted.
“This is to allow us to review the land deals, as well as to ensure that all the land sales were done via open tender.” – May 16, 2018.
