THE wife of missing activist Amri Che Mat has lodged a report alleging a police informer told her it was police officers from the federal headquarters in Bukit Aman who abducted her husband and pastor Raymond Koh.
Norhayati Mohd Ariffin said the explosive piece of information was relayed to her by a Special Branch officer who visited her home in Kangar, Perlis, on Saturday.
The operation to abduct Amri and Koh was allegedly carried out by Bukit Aman Special Branch’s social extremism division (E2).
The information, including the names of the officers involved and also that of the informer, were handed over to police yesterday when Norhayati lodged a report at the Shah Alam district police headquarters.
“When I asked him (informer) why Amri was taken, he alleged it was because of Syiah and forex.
“This officer alleged that the Bukit Aman team that took Amri was also the same team that took Pastor Raymond Koh on 13th February 2017.
“When I asked him why? He alleged that it was because Koh was allegedly proselytising to Muslims,” Norhayati said in a statement.
Amri, a social activist and forex trader, went missing on November 24, 2016, after leaving home to meet a friend.
He is believed to have been abducted by a group of persons in 4WD vehicles which had surrounded his car in Kampung Padang Behor.
The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) is conducting a public inquiry into the disappearance of Amri, Koh and Pastor Joshua and Ruth Hilmy.
Norhayathi said the officer told her that even before Amri’s disappearance, a police team in Perlis was conducting surveillance on him.
This team, she was told, was headed by an ASP from the Special Branch. Information gathered by this ASP was then sent back to Bukit Aman.
“I have disclosed more details in my report. I urge the police to investigate these serious allegations with urgency and to find my husband Amri and also Koh.
“I also urge the police to cooperate with the investigations being conducted by Suhakam.” – May 16, 2018.
