PUTRAJAYA has ordered all government agencies to remove all traces of slogans like “1Malaysia” and “Negaraku” introduced by former prime minister Najib Razak.
The slogans were widely promoted in schools, hospitals, government institutions and the civil service at large.
Malaysia Decides sighted an internal memo at a government hospital that ordered the removal of the 1Malaysia logo and even photographs of Najib, who was also Barisan Nasional chairman.
An email sent out to civil servants from a department’s director-general also included the instructions barring civil servants from using:
* corporate shirts with the 1Malaysia logo;
* 1Malaysia and Negaraku lapel pins; and,
* phrases like “Salam 1Malaysia”, “Salam Negaraku” or “Salam Negaraku 1Malaysia” in any document, email or memo.
Earlier yesterday, Lembah Pantai lawmaker Fahmi Fadzil tweeted that the Kuala Lumpur mayor had instructed that all posters bearing the photographs of Najib and former Federal Territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor be taken down.
On Monday, City Hall enforcement officers were seen pulling down the 1Malaysia Negaraku sign board at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) in Bandar Baru Sentul, Kuala Lumpur.
Najib introduced the 1Malaysia concept in 2010 to promote harmony, national unity and good governance.
The concept is now synonymous with various failures, such as Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) and 1Malaysia clinic.
The 1Malaysia programmes were allegedly said to benefit Najib’s cronies and not the people.
The Negaraku campaign was launched by Najib in 2017 to promote nationalism. He merged it later with the 1Malaysia Negaraku to sync both campaigns.
This included a logo change with the original 1Malaysia logo wrapped with the Jalur Gemilang. – May 16, 2018.
