UTUSAN Melayu (Malaysia) Bhd independent chairman and non-executive member Mohamad Fatmi Che Salleh had resigned from his post along with three other members of the board of directors, reports Utusan Online.
In a statement today, Utusan Melayu (Malaysia) Bhd managing director Mohd Noordin Abbas said the group will operate normally as a mainstream media agency that would report responsibly.
He also said the digital platform will be emphasised, in line with the current trend.
“Utusan Group will operate like normal as a mainstream media company that reports news fairly and responsibly yet still remain critical for the benefit of the people,” he said.
The other three members of the board are independent and non-executive directors of the group, Jamalul Kiram Mohd Zakaria, Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad and Mohd Yusif Abu Othman.
“The resignation of the board of directors is in line with the restructuring plan of Kumpulan Utusan,” he said.
Tengku Sariffuddin had served as ousted prime minister Najib razak’s press secretary.
The resignation of the four directors came after Barisan Nasional was defeated in the general election on May 9. – May 15, 2018.
