Husam one of 3 Amanah ministerial candidates

AMANAH vice-president Husam Musa is one of three names submitted by the party to be one of the first 10 ministers appointed under the Pakatan Harapan government.

If selected, Husam, who failed to win the Kota Baru seat in the 14th general election, is expected to be appointed as a senator before he is sworn in as member of the cabinet.

Husam lost to incumbent Takiyudin Hassan, who is also PAS secretary-general.

Apart from Husam, Amanah has also named its deputy president Salahudin Ayub and secretary-general Mohd Anuar Tahir.

“It’s now up to Dr Mahathir Mohamad, as prime minister, to select either all of them or at least two of them,” an Amanah leader told Malaysia Decides.

Dr Mahathir has announced that each party within PH has been asked to submit three names to be selected as the first 10 cabinet members.

Three cabinet positions have already been filled by Lim Guan Eng (finance), Muhyiddin Yassin (home) and Mohamad Sabu (defence).

Dr Mahathir also said he would cap his cabinet at 25. The remaining 15 will be decided at a later stage.

The list submitted by PKR, which Dr Mahathir claims had 10 names, does not include Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, a party source told Malaysia Decides.

“I understand that Nurul’s name was not included because her mother has already been appointed as deputy prime minister,” said the source. – May 15, 2018.
