SABAH cabinet members will be expected to declare their assets to ensure transparency, The Star reports today.
New Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal said he has informed all assemblymen from Parti Warisan Sabah and its partners, Upko, PKR and DAP about the requirement.
“I will be meeting all assemblymen at Seri Gaya (the chief minister’s official residence) to discuss, among others, matters on declaration of assets.
“I do not want the ministers and representatives to have any conflict of interest,” he was quoted as saying by the daily.
Among the first things that Shafie did on his first official day of work was lift the state’s entry ban on PKR leaders Nurul Izzah Anwar and Chua Tian Chang, better known as Tian Chua.
The state immigration ban on Nurul Izzah and Tian Chua has been in place since November 2015 after a special motion was approved in the Sabah legislative assembly led by Barisan National chief minister Musa Aman.
The motion was raised on grounds that both leaders supported the Sulu invasion of Sabah in 2013, also known as the Lahad Datu incursion, as both met with Sulu princess Jacel. H. Kiram. – May 15, 2018.
