THE Council of Eminent Persons today announced the formation of a five-member committee on institutional reforms.
“Economic reforms on its own cannot bring the desired change unless accompanied by institutional reforms,” it said in a statement today.
The members are K.C. Vohrah, retired Court of Appeal judge; Mah Weng Kwai, retired Court of Appeal judge and Suhakam commissioner; Brig-Gen (rtd) Mohamed Arshad Raji, president of National Patriots Association; Emeritus Professor Shad Saleem Faruqi, professor of law at Universiti Malaya; and Ambiga Sreenevasan, president of Hakam.
The panel is to present its findings and recommendations to the council, which will then present them to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad. – May 15, 2018.
