MIC and MCA will stay in BN, say party heads

The Malaysian Insight

MIC and MCA will continue to stay in Barisan Nasional (BN) to tackle future political challenges, said MIC president Dr S. Subramaniam.

Bernama reported Subramaniam as saying BN’s component parties had to agree to make changes and take their weaknesses into account to remain relevant.

He said BN needed to be a good opposition pact to regain the people’s support, and MIC would probably reconsider other options if change did not happen.

“Today, we (MIC) are still part of BN. We feel BN needs reform to tackle current challenges. Otherwise, we will be looking for (other) options,” he said after attending a special meeting of the BN Supreme Council chaired by BN deputy chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at Menara Dato’ Onn yesterday.

MCA president Liow Tiong Lai said all component parties would carry out a post-mortem to identify and correct their weaknesses.

“BN is still intact. We have to go through these changes together,” he said. – May 15, 2018.
