Anwar's pardon delayed to Wednesday

THE Pardons Board hearing for Anwar Ibrahim has been postponed to Wednesday, a day after he was initially meant to be released, PKR’s Fahmi Fadzil said.

The communications director said he was notified by the Prime Minister’s Office today that there will be a delay in the hearing.

“PKR has received word that the Pardons Board meeting will be held on May 16, Wednesday,” Fahmi said in a statement today.

The Lembah Pantai MP also said any celebrations involving the PH de facto leader will be postponed until further notice.

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad earlier said the meeting was postponed as the government sent the current Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali on leave.

He said Apandi would be replaced by the solicitor-general, who would be sitting in the pardons board meeting on Wednesday.

“For the process of pardon, the person that will be attending would be the solicitor-general,” Dr Mahathir said. – May 14, 2018.
