THE Finance Ministry secretary-general, 1Malaysia Development Berhad chief executive officer, and the attorney-general are among those blacklisted by the Immigration Department.

Sources said apart from Irwan Serigar Abdullah, Arul Kanda, and Mohamed Apandi Ali, more prominent names were being proposed by various parties to be barred from leaving the country.

“Many more names are being proposed.The list will continue to grow,” said an Immigration Department source today.

Two days ago, Najib Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, were barred from leaving the country, after it became apparent that the former first couple was planning to leave the country for a holiday in Indonesia.

Dr Mahathir said in a press conference hours later that he was the one who instructed that the duo’s names be blacklisted.

“There are a lot of complaints against Najib, so we have to look into all this,” said Mahathir, adding that he wanted to settle investigations into 1MDB as soon as possible.

“We do not want to be saddled with extradition requests,” he said a few days ago. – May 14, 2018.
