Umno will use BN logo for GE16, says Zahid

UMNO will continue to use the Barisan Nasional logo for the next general election (GE16), said its president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. 

“The grassroots leadership wants Umno to maintain the use of the BN dacing logo in the next polls and their argument is that voters are familiar with the logo. 

“Umno leadership agrees that this should be maintained,” he said today after attending a closed-door presidential briefing with delegates attending the Umno general assembly. 

Previously there had been calls from within Umno for the party to use its own logo in polls, signalling BN’s continued irrelevance. 

BN had disintegrated since the 2018 general election. In the last general election, BN won 29 seats in all, with Umno winning 26.  

Only Umno, however, is represented in the unity government, with both MCA and MIC being excluded. 

Zahid did not rule out collaborating with the 18 parties in the unity government in GE16. 

“This is one of five guiding principles that I presented to Umno delegates during my briefing. We must work together not just among ourselves, but close working relations should extend between Umno and other parties in the unity government,” he added. – August 22, 2024.
