RAFIZI Ramli has denied wanting to be finance minister and intends to sue Sin Chew Daily for reporting it.
“I had since last year informed (PKR leaders) Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Anwar Ibrahim and Nurul Izzah Anwar that I do not want any government posts.
“The report from Sin Chew is slander and I will sue,” the PKR vice-president posted on Twitter today.
Rafizi had in an open letter said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had named ministers for three core cabinet posts without consulting PKR.
They were DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng as finance minister, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin as home minister and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu as defence minister.
However, this was later refuted by DAP and Amanah leaders, who said internal discussions within PH on cabinet appointments had been smooth.
Rafizi received brickbats from social media users over his open letter but he defended his actions, saying he was merely stating the party’s stand and that there was no need for insults.
“Don’t forget, when there is no courage to criticise then we will return to BN’s era. I can accept the criticisms against me but there is no need for insults. – May 13, 2018.
