Rafizi's statement was personal stand, says Azmin

RAFIZI Ramli’s statement that PKR had not been consulted on the appointment of three senior ministers was his own personal view, said PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali today.

Azmin said the party had pledged to fully support Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and this was also stated by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

“That was Rafizi’s personal views and we have to respect him, but at the end of the day we look at the party’s decision and the official decision has been stated by Anwar today.

“... I am confident that the process (minister appointment) will be carried out smoothly, and we want it to meet the aspirations of the people,” he told reporters after a victory celebration in the Gombak parliamentary constituency, where he is MP, today.

Azmin added that the party will continue to discuss cabinet appointments with the Pakatan Harapan leadership and hoped that a full line-up could be revealed soon.

Rafizi, who is PKR vice-president, said yesterday that the party was not consulted before the announcement of the posts of finance minister, defence minister and home minister.

However, DAP and Amanah leaders quickly rebutted Rafizi, saying that PKR had been consulted but the party disagreed with the appointments, while other parties had consented to it.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has been named as finance minister, with Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin taking the home minister portfolio while Amanah president Mohamad Sabu is defence minister. – May 13, 2018.
