NEGRI Sembilan Barisan Nasional (BN) has said “rats” within the coalition are now jumping ship or are saving their own skin after its disastrous outing in the 14th general election.
State BN chairman Mohamad Hasan told the New Straits Times that they include defectors and those who are hanging others out to dry to cover up their own weaknesses.
Mohamad, however, said this was a good thing as Umno does not need members who joined the party with ulterior motives.
The former Negri Sembilan menteri besar said many leaders in the coalition will leave but loyalists and the faithful will remain.
Commenting on the 14th general election, Mohamad said Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s involvement with Pakatan Harapan and unpopular policies by the BN administration had led voters to vote against the coalition.
He did not want to comment on the people’s sentiment towards former prime minister Najib Razak but said GE14’s results were obvious indicators in that regard. – May 13, 2018.
