Shafie takes first steps as 1 of 2 Sabah chief ministers

The Malaysian Insight

SHAFIE Apdal made his first mark as Sabah chief minister today by attending the 5th Sabah Federation of Chinese Association (FCAS) International Dragon Boat Race this morning.

The Warisan president was sworn in as chief minister last night, barely two days after Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Musa Aman was also sworn in as chief minister, raising fears that Sabah was headed into a constitutional crisis due to the presence of two chief ministers in the state.

“Dragon boat races and the festivities held in Sabah are not just events to be highlighted as part of Sabahan culture, but they also enhance inter-racial ties among Sabahans,” said Shafie.

Present at the event were Yang di-Pertua Negeri Juhar Mahiruddin and FCAS president T.C Goh.

About 121 teams took part in the race today. – May 13, 2018
