PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim said yesterday he relayed concerns of inclusivity to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad during the latter’s visit to Cheras Hospital.
“I reiterated my full support of PKR to Dr Mahathir’s leadership. I also passed on the anxiety (felt) by leaders who urge for a more comprehensive negotiation,” Anwar said in a statement.
Anwar said his views were “well received” by Dr Mahathir and would be relayed to the Pakatan Harapan presidential council.
Despite this, Anwar urged PH leaders to unite to “save” the country.
“I also passed on my view (as) to the leadership of PKR to ensure that the Pakatan Harapan government remains cohesive and firm under the leadership of Dr Mahathir as prime minister and Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as deputy prime minister, so as to ease the carrying out of duties.
“I urge my fellow comrades who have received the people’s mandate to quickly carry out the duty of saving and rebuilding our country,” he said.
Yesterday, former Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli criticised the appointment of DAP leader Lim Guan Eng to the post of finance minister, saying it was carried out without feedback from PKR.
Other component party leaders have since refuted Rafizi’s claim, saying PKR leaders were consulted. – May 13, 2018
