DAP has joined Amanah in refuting Rafizi Ramli’s claim that the cabinet appointments announced today did not get PKR’s consent.
National organising secretary Anthony Loke said the appointments were discussed in a meeting earlier today, which he attended.
He said the meeting went smoothly, and DAP had no objections to the three names raised for the posts of finance, home and defence ministers.
“There is no problem. DAP is a team player. What we ask for is fair treatment, not unreasonable demands,” he told Malaysia Decides.
The Seremban lawmaker said the appointments were made only after all four Pakatan Harapan parties – PKR, DAP, Bersatu and Amanah – had been consulted.
On PKR vice-president Rafizi’s statement that the appointments were Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s unilateral decision and are not final, Loke said: “Ask him yourself why he is doing this.”
Amanah communications director Khalid Abdul Samad also said the appointments were first discussed among the four PH components.
“The decision was reached following discussions, with all members present.
“No one brought a bulldozer to bulldoze the decision through.”
Dr Mahathir announced that the finance minister’s post will be held by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, defence minister (Amanah president Mohamad Sabu) and home minister (Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin).
There are rumours that PKR had wanted Rafizi to hold the finance portfolio. – May 12, 2018.
