Nobody bulldozed cabinet appointments, Amanah tells PKR

The Malaysian Insight

AMANAH is disputing Rafizi Ramli’s claim that the cabinet appointments announced today did not get PKR’s consent.

Amanah communications director Khalid Abdul Samad said the appointments, announced by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, were discussed in a Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting earlier in the day.

“The decision was reached following discussions, with all members present.

“No one brought a bulldozer to bulldoze the decision through.”

Dr Mahathir announced Lim Guan Eng as finance minister, Muhyiddin Yassin as home minister and Mohamad Sabu as defence minister.

Deputy Prime Minister and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, however, was not present at the press conference where the announcement was made.

This led to Rafizi, the PKR vice-president, disputing the appointments, saying they were Dr Mahathir’s unilateral decision.

He said the cabinet selection is still being discussed, and needs the consent of all PH parties. – May 12, 2018.
