Anwar to be freed Tuesday, says Nurul Izzah

ANWAR Ibrahim will be freed on Tuesday, said his daughter, Nurul Izzah Anwar, today.

Channel NewsAsia reported her as saying the PKR de facto leader will receive a full pardon.

It was reported that Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the Agong had conveyed his views on the matter after the prime minister’s swearing-in ceremony at Istana Negara on Thursday night.

A pardon will allow Anwar to participate in politics once more.

He is currently at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital, where he is recuperating after a surgery.

Anwar is serving a five-year jail sentence following a sodomy conviction, and was due to be released on June 8. – May 12, 2018.
