Johor's Pakatan MB sworn in

The Malaysian Insight

PAKATAN Harapan’s Kempas assemblyman, Osman Sapian, today takes office as Johor’s 16th menteri besar.

The 67-year-old was sworn in before Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar at Istana Bukit Serene in Johor Baru this afternoon.

Osman, who is also state PH secretary, won Kempas with a 9,178-vote majority.

In the 14th general election, PH won 36 out of the 56 seats in the Johor state assembly, but had three more added to the total following the defections of Umno assemblymen to Bersatu earlier today.

Osman replaces state Barisan Nasional chief Mohamed Khaled Nordin as MB in Johor, which PH had called a “front-line state” in its bid to take over Putrajaya. – May 12, 2018.
