DR Mahathir Mohamad has used his discretion as prime minister to lift the Official Secrets Act (OSA) imposed on the auditor-general’s report on 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

He said he has instructed the authorities on the matter, and they will submit the report to him.

“We have to do this. I’ve given instructions to police to remove the restrictions placed on it (the report) by the OSA.

“They will then submit the report to me, and I will study it,” said the Pakatan Harapan chairman during a press conference today.

The 93-year-old said he will contact the authorities in countries like the US, Singapore and Switzerland, where investigations into 1MDB have been launched, to get the complete picture.

“We want to get all the data on what happened regarding 1MDB,” said Dr Mahathir, adding that he wants the matter to be resolved “as soon as possible”. – May 12, 2018.
