PERAK Barisan Nasional chief Zambry Abd Kadir and three PAS state assemblymen showed up at Kinta Palace in Ipoh for an audience with the state ruler this morning.
PAS Perak commissioner and Gunung Semanggol rep Razman Zakaria arrived first, followed by two other PAS assemblymen about 9.40am.
Zambry arrived at 10.45am with his bodyguards and left at 11.10am.
None of the four spoke to the press.
The Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah yesterday requested that Zambry present 30 state assemblymen to him as a mark of support for BN’s bid to form the state government.
The other 26 BN state assemblymen did not show up.
The state ruler said yesterday that Pakatan Harapan had been given the preference to form the state government as it won the most seats but it still had to secure a simple majority of at least 30 seats.
PH is expected to meet the sultan at 2pm today.
PH won 29 seats, BN (27) and PAS (3) in Perak.
Razman told Malaysia Decides late last night PAS offered to form a unity government with BN and PH, or else Perak would have a “fragile government”.
“We want a stable government,” he said.
Razman said PAS would investigate allegations of abuses of power plaguing caretaker menteri besar Zambry, even if it formed a unity government with BN and PH.
“It doesn’t matter who he is, we will investigate,” he said.
PAS wrested two out of the three seats in Perak with a slim majority from Umno.
It wrested Kubu Gajah by 180 votes and Selama by 289 votes.
Razman retained Gunung Semanggol for PAS with a slightly higher majority of 1,903 votes compared with 1,405 in 2013. – May 12, 2018.
