UNCERTAIN about life as in the opposition, three Umno assemblymen in Johor have abandoned the party and defected to Pakatan Harapan.

The three who jumped are Sedili assemblyman Rasman Ithnain, Johor Lama assemblyman Rosleli Jahari, and Endau assemblyman Alawiyah Talib.

The three said they were joining Bersatu  as it was unlikely that Barisan Nasional could serve voters anymore now that it has lost power at the state and federal levels.

“We are doing this for the people and Malay unity. We are joining Bersatu.

“We have to look after the people and help them. The voters will understand our decision,” said Rasman, speaking on behalf of the three of them.

Some 40 members from the Kota Tinggi Umno division also left the party to join Bersatu.

With the defection, PH now holds 39 seats in the Johor legislature, while BN has 15. The Islamist party PAS has one. – May 12, 2018.
