Crowd stops vehicle outside airport, but Najib not inside

The Malaysian Insight

A CROWD of about 50 people tried to stop an MPV from entering the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang believing that former prime minister Najib Razak was inside.

The crowd of people, which had joined members of the press camped outside a gate leading to the runway and hangars, surrounded the MPV when it arrived about 9.30am.

They shouted “Buka! Buka!” (Open! Open!) at the vehicle, calling on its occupants to wind down the heavily tinted windows so they could see who was inside.

The driver then reversed away from the gate slowly as policemen intervened prevented people from approaching the vehicle.

After a few minutes, a passenger window was wound down and the man inside appeared to be former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Shahidan Kassim. He retained the Arau parliamentary seat in the recent GE14.

The crowd then let the car through after realising that Najib was not inside.

News of Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor’s departure to Jakarta, Indonesia, on a private jet at 10am today went viral last night.

Police Light Strike Force has been deployed at the airport to control the crowd. – May 12, 2018.
