AS social media swirled with rumours that Najib Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, are fleeing Malaysia, the media have been gathering at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang since 5am in anticipation of the two making an appearance.
The chatter on social media is that hundreds of people had gathered to stop Najib and his wife fleeing the country, but a check at the scene found only a handful of people there, apart from the many journalists from local and foreign media.
It was reported that Najib would depart at 10am today for a two-day trip to Jakarta.
Hundreds of social media users commented yesterday that Najib should not be allowed to leave the country.
Najib recently presided over Barisan Nasional’s first defeat at the general election, winning only 79 seats, paving the way for the Pakatan Harapan coalition to form the federal government.
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamed, on the campaign trail, had vowed to bring Najib and those involved in the 1MDB scandal to justice. – May 12, 2018.
