PARTI Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), which secured the Pensiangan parliamentary and Sook state seat, has now aligned itself with Warisan.
Its president, Joseph Kurup, announced the decision to leave Barisan Nasional (BN) yesterday.
“In view of the fact that the BN government has fallen, PBRS leaders feel that we will not be able to serve our community, if we stay on.
“Under the circumstances, PBRS decided to review its position within the BN coalition, and have applied to become a part of the Pakatan Harapan coalition. Only by joining PH, can we provide what we promised to the people.
“We are leaving BN because if we stayed, we will not be able to serve our people in the best way possible,” he said in a statement issued late night tonight.
With this move, Warisan now has the support of 36 assemblymen, while BN has 24.
Sabah BN chief Musa Aman was sworn in as chief minister on Thursday night. This has not been recognised by Warisan and its president Shafie Apdal, who now says he has the numbers to form the state government. – May 12, 2018.
