PRIME Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today met with Yang Di-Pertua Sarawak Abdul Taib Mahmud to discuss the possibility of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) leaving Barisan Nasional (BN) to join Pakatan Harapan (PH), said a source.
The source said Taib would be summoning the Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg to discuss the matter.
“Dr Mahathir and Taib’s meeting took place in Kuala Lumpur.
“If this takes place, Sarawak will be free of BN and will bring up a Sarawak agenda and the Malaysia Agreement 1963,” said the source who requested anonymity.
According to the source, Abang Johari would call Sarawak’s MPs and state representatives to an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss their positions in BN.
Sarawak BN comprises PBB, PRS, SUPP and PDP, which have a total 19 MPs. PBB has the bulk of the seats with 13, followed by PRS (3), PDP (2) and SUPP (1).
Pakatan currently controls 123 parliamentary seats, including those of ally Warisan, the independent Batu MP, and the Upko president Madius Tangau, who defected yesterday from BN.

If all 19 MPs in Sarawak BN were to defect to Pakatan Harapan, the ruling coalition will have 143 seats, five short of a two-thirds majority in Parliament.
